WORTH Digitization originally started in 2006 as RCMCT - WORTH Trust Rehabilitation Centre at KK Nagar, Chennai and it is currently relocated to Kottivakkam, Chennai.  It undertakes the following activities:


  • The unit undertakes embossing of Braille books for the visually impaired.  The unit has three heavy duty Braille embossers where  Braille books in English and Tamil are embossed for School and College students at nominal charges.
  • The unit undertakes conversion of printed books into E-Books for the visually impaired.  Books are converted into digital word / audio files which can be read  (heard) using screen readers in computers / MP3 Players without depending on readers.  Nearly 12500 English books and 200 Tamil books have been converted into digital format for Bookshare.org (the world’s largest online digital library for the print disabled) and others.
  • Digitization of magazines like Kalki, Gokulam, Deepavali Malar are done by scanning, colour correction and then segregating them article-wise and  uploading it to the Bharathan Publication’s On-line magazine.
  • The unit produces text and audio books in English and Tamil in DAISY format which provides easy navigation features for the visually impaired.
